The various tools within this software help communities strengthen the management and advocacy of urban forests by quantifying the environmental and ecosystem services that trees and the urban forest structure provide. i-Tree Eco, in particular, is a tool designed to use standardized field data and local hourly air pollution and meteorological data to quantify urban forest structure and its numerous effects (Nowak and Crane 2000). The data provided by the software, which requires a very detailed identification of the trees present in the study area, include: Urban forest structure (e.g., species composition, tree health, leaf area, etc.) Amount of pollution removed hourly by the urban forest and the related percentage improvement in air quality over the course of the year. Total carbon stored and net carbon sequestered annually by the urban forest. Effects of trees on building energy use and the consequent effects on carbon dioxide emissions from energy sources. Replacement value of the forest, as well as the value of air pollution removal and carbon storage and sequestration. Potential impact of pest infestations. The i-Tree Eco software is accessible at https://www.itreetools.org/tools/i-tree-eco If the tree species present in the study area are not included in the software's species database, equivalent species with similar characteristics are used as a reference. Data Collection and Processing: File di progetto iTree - Eco.zip: Contains the raw data and project setup files for an i-Tree Eco assessment. Use these to open and continue working on your i-Tree Eco project. Report iTree Eco - Ante Operam.zip: This is a report generated by i-Tree Eco showing tree inventory and ecosystem service data before any construction or development took place (the "Ante Operam" stage). Report iTree Eco - Post Operam.zip: This is a report generated by i-Tree Eco showing tree inventory and ecosystem service data after construction or development took place (the "Post Operam" stage). It's likely to be compared to the pre-construction report to assess impacts. Study Areas: This dataset includes data related to the municipalities of: Ancona - San Benedetto del Tronto - Martinsicuro - Alba Adriatica - Tortoreto - Giulianova - Roseto degli Abruzzi - Pineto - Silvi - Pescara These locations form the core of the Adriatic Climate Urban Network within the LIFE+ A_GreeNet project.
