Building Information Modeling is a new paradigm for digital design and information management that shows great potential for renovation processes. The research crosses the subject area of building renovation and building information modeling technology and it seeks to implement BIM technology in renovation projects. Here the main necessary aspects for working on BIM technology are identified to optimize work processes and, consequently, to improve quality, reduce time and cost of design. As a result, this set is combined into a roadmap for architects, engineers and managers, which is intended for the integration of the BIM technology into reconstruction projects.

Abstract

Building Information Modeling is a new paradigm for digital design and information management that shows great potential for renovation processes. The research crosses the subject area of building renovation and building information modeling technology and it seeks to implement BIM technology in renovation projects. Here the main necessary aspects for working on BIM technology are identified to optimize work processes and, consequently, to improve quality, reduce time and cost of design. As a result, this set is combined into a roadmap for architects, engineers and managers, which is intended for the integration of the BIM technology into reconstruction projects.
