In this paper, the author defines a production-inventory fluid model with an in- nite buffer, where the inputs and outputs are controlled by a background irreducible continuous-time Markov chain representing the environment. As soon as the fluid in the storage reaches level zero, the machine becomes idle until the total fluid exceeds level D with D > 0. The author assumes that switches from idle periods and busy periods take no time and studies two separate types of models with different supply process patterns: fluid-type models and Markov additive process-type models. Abstract
