Compostable Plastics (CPs)can be composted together with urban organic waste (UOW) and directed to compost production. The impacts of CPs presence in compost on soil ecosystems and crop health, still needs to be assessed. The aim of the study, part of the ABRIOPACK project, is toevaluate the effects produced by “standard” compost (C) obtained from UOW and UOW composted together with 3 % of CPs (CV) on wheat health and rhizosphere microbiome. Three treatments (C, CV, and B – no compost), were tested in a field experiment. Wheat morphological and productive traits were measured, and rhizospheric bacterial and fungal communities were analysed by 16S and ITS rRNA metabarcoding. Compost fertilization significantly changed the rhizospheric community compared to control (B). C and CV communities resulted similar; CPs addition didn’t affect compost quality, crop, and microbiome health.

Abstract
C and CV communities resulted similar; CPs addition didn’t affect compost quality, crop, and microbiome health.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
