Nuovi collegamenti verticali all’interno di antiche preesistenze. Un’occasione di restauro, rifunzionalizzazione e valorizzazione

New vertical connections within ancient pre-existences. An occasion of restoration, re-functionalization and valorization The realization of new staircases inside ancient structures, with the aim of fulfilling both static-structural and normative-functional needs, can be seen as an opportunity for the restoration and enhancement of pre-existing structures. Restoring the accessibility of individual rooms or entire structures is in fact necessary to allow and ensure over time the use and maintenance, essential for the preservation of the monument itself. However, it is necessary to operate in the respect of the historical stratifications, without sacrificing the testimonial values, and according to the criteria of modern restoration. The restoration and re-functionalization projects treated in this contribution, are presented as examples of successful combination and integration of the new with the old, and allow to highlight, on different levels, the various aspects of the difficult but task offered by the need to ensure accessibility and usability in historic buildings.

La realizzazione di nuove scale all’interno di strutture antiche, con il fine di assolvere sia ad esigenze statico-strutturali sia normative e funzionali, può essere vista come un’occasione per il restauro e la valorizzazione delle preesistenze. Ristabilire l’accessibilità di singoli ambienti o di intere strutture è infatti necessario per permettere e garantire nel tempo l’uso e la manutenzione, essenziali per la conservazione del bene stesso. È tuttavia necessario operare nel rispetto delle stratificazioni storiche, senza sacrificare i valori testimoniali, e secondo i criteri del restauro modernamente inteso. Gli interventi progettuali di restauro e rifunzionalizzazione trattati nell’ambito del contributo in oggetto, si pongono come esempi di felice connubio e integrazione del nuovo con l’antico, e permettono di evidenziare, su diversi livelli, i vari aspetti del difficile ma fruttuoso compito offerto dalla necessità di garantire l’accessibilità e la fruibilità negli edifici storici.
