The history of the monument and its restorations is outlined, as they represent the paradigm of the strong connection between Ancona and its commemorative Arch of Trajan.

Ancona e del suo porto. Il monumento ha resistito alla violenza del mare, ai terremoti e agli eventi bellici, conservando inalterate le sue qualità e l’alto valore simbolico, testimoniati dall’interesse di cui ha sempre goduto, che ci viene confermato da un significativo apparato iconografico che si accompagna a numerosissimi scritti sull’argomento. Gli interventi di restauro che si sono succeduti nel tempo, hanno favorito la sua conservazione materiale, compromessa dalla particolare posizione, perseguendo l’obiettivo di una valorizzazione attiva, enfatizzando anche il rapporto con la città e con il mare Adriatico.
