Mediterranean economic thought finds its origin in the works of Aristotle and arrives to the present day thanks to the contributions of Saint Francis, Saint Thomas Aquinas and the Spanish Scholasticism. The development of Mediterranean economic thought took place discontinuously through the work of scholars from different historical periods and from different cultures who, however, had in common the ethical and moral sense of human existence and social relations. This vision of the economy based on the values of Catholic ethics and morals has remained far from the influence of positivism, which has marked the mainstream of the nineteenth century, merging into the economic thinking of the civil economy, often evoked by the current European Mediterranean civilization.

Abstract
Mediterranean economic thought finds its origin in the works of Aristotle and arrives to the present day thanks to the contributions of Saint Francis, Saint Thomas Aquinas and the Spanish Scholasticism. The development of Mediterranean economic thought took place discontinuously through the work of scholars from different historical periods and from different cultures who, however, had in common the ethical and moral sense of human existence and social relations. This vision of the economy based on the values of Catholic ethics and morals has remained far from the influence of positivism, which has marked the mainstream of the nineteenth century, merging into the economic thinking of the civil economy, often evoked by the current European Mediterranean civilization.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
