The mid-Adriatic area is the subject of frequent research aimed at deepening a widespread urban model of a city that develops, without interruption, for about 300 kilometers from Ravenna to Termoli. The Adriatic city is the manifestation of a recently formed extended and inclusive metropolis, that welcomes, among other things, sporadic traces of ancient settlements. The urbanization occurs linearly along a bundle of road infrastructures, in a predominantly flat area, between the coast and the prominent low hills, with propagations inland, within the valley areas that are arranged transversely to the sea. Cupra Marittima, a representative sample of this widespread metropolis, will be the subject of study. The focus will be on the archaeological site located south of the Menocchia river, where archeological excavations have brought to light the remains of a Roman settlement. The theme of the workshop will be the design of an archaeological and naturalistic park inscribed in a heterogeneous context, marked both by houses, sheds, farmhouses, agricultural fields, greenhouses but also by tourist structures which have settled along the coastline since the 1960s. Within a landscape and architectural vision, new spaces will be conceived for exploratory tourism.
