Half sandwich organometal complexes of Ru(II), Os(II), Rh(III) and Ir(III) with -diketone-like ligands have been extensively explored in the last years as potential prodrugs in anticancer therapy. Herein a mini review of this class of compounds is provided. A discussion of the basic structural features of the metal complexes is given together with their in vitro anticancer activity.
