Cervical spondylosis (CS) represents a frequent degenerative condition affecting the cervical spine. The pathology is induced by age-related changes in the cervical spine. Different patterns can be identifìed: neck, shoulder and suboccipital pain, headache, radicular symptoms and cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). 1, 2 According to lrvine et a/.3 the prevalence of CSM ranges in males from 13% in the third decade to almost 100% in subjects older than 70 years, whereas in females, the prevalence ranges from 5% in the fourth decade to more than 95% in women older than 70 years. Severa! subjects with CS or CSM are asymptomatic; however, they show a higher risk of spinai cord injury (SCI) after minor injuries.
