The essay deals with the relationship between poverty and crime in the thought of Enrico Ferri including new proposal of the Positivist Criminal School, of the so-called Classic school and the “Third School”. Through the scientific experience of Enrico Ferri, criminal replacement, the issue of prevention, recidivism, and the role of work, both at a preventive level and within the prison system as part of the punishment, will be analyzed.
