Ecological networks are a key point in nature conservation, because their comprehension is the starting point in the decisional process of strategies for the conservation of populations and species. One of the main problems arising in this process is that borders between ecosystems may be not sharp and their mapping can be problematic. This problem can be overcome through a hierarchical approach. The hierarchical approach can be realized through the methods of phytosociological series and phytosociological chains, which together define a geosynphytosociological method. The application of the hierarchical approach network analysis and biodiversity conservation planning can be easily realized using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Abstract
Ecological networks are a key point in nature conservation, because their comprehension is the starting point in the decisional process of strategies for the conservation of populations and species. One of the main problems arising in this process is that borders between ecosystems may be not sharp and their mapping can be problematic. This problem can be overcome through a hierarchical approach. The hierarchical approach can be realized through the methods of phytosociological series and phytosociological chains, which together define a geosynphytosociological method. The application of the hierarchical approach network analysis and biodiversity conservation planning can be easily realized using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
