The synthesis and antimuscarinic activity on M1, M2 and M3 tissues of a series of 2-aryl and 2-alkyl-4-dimethylaminomethyl-1,3-dioxolane methiodide (3ac-3d) and their corresponding tertiary amines (4ac-4d) are described. The results show that compound 3ac is a potent and selective muscarinic antagonist.
