The scattering of low energy positrons from metal surfaces has been simulated using a realistic model of the surface potential energy function. The results show the existence of interference features due to the scattering of positrons by the surface potential energy well. LEPD and LEED fine structure are compared and contrasted for the Cu(111) surface. The LEPD fine structure is shown to be sensitive to details of the surface barrier structure. Studies of such phenomena could provide details of the effective potential for positrons at metal surfaces.

Abstract
The scattering of low energy positrons from metal surfaces has been simulated using a realistic model of the surface potential energy function. The results show the existence of interference features due to the scattering of positrons by the surface potential energy well. LEPD and LEED fine structure are compared and contrasted for the Cu(111) surface. The LEPD fine structure is shown to be sensitive to details of the surface barrier structure. Studies of such phenomena could provide details of the effective potential for positrons at metal surfaces.File in questo prodotto:
