Near Lake Borgiano (Chienti River) a sequence which includes both slope waste deposits and alluvial fan sediments has been discovered. Near the slope, inside the debris, various organic horizont of rendzinic soil are present. Laterally, in the lower part of the sequence, alluvial fan sediments are separated by at least three phases of evolution of similar soil. A radio carbon datin (C14) of the intermediate layer gave an age of 2350-2329 yr. B.P. while archeological findings suggest a slightly older age (VI-IX sec. B.C.). This dating shows how during this period the degradation of the slope, at least in this area, had already started. However the intensity of degradation increased after this period. Causes for this event are associated with the deforestation due to progressive diffusion of agricolture and grazing.

Abstract
Causes for this event are associated with the deforestation due to progressive diffusion of agricolture and grazing.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
