In the Gubbio area, a sheet of early Serravallian Marnoso-arenacea, with basis plain edge facie, overlies the allocthonous Liguride units and the local middle-late Serravallian Marnoso-arenacea, with basis plain fecies. The emplacement of the sheet is due to gravitational sliding from the higher and more internal areas of the Marnoso-arenacea basin, affected by compressional stress; the Liguride units acted as a lubricant, facilitating the movement of the sheet.
