This intervention transforms a relatively small architectural volume into a highly expressive figurative field, in which representation plays an active role in the definition of space. The depicted scene does not operate as a mere extension of the architecture; rather, it is configured as an autonomous structure, examined through the integration of bibliographic sources, survey data, and graphic analysis.

Abstract
The paper explores the potential of drawing as a critical tool for analyzing the relationships between architectural space and pictorial imagery, with particular attention to contexts in which figurative interventions significantly shape the perceptual experience of the built environmentThe focus is on the fresco executed by Salvatore Fiume on the intrados of the dome of the Church of San Rocco in Fiumefreddo Bruzio. The study reveals a configuration devoid of a stable hierarchical focal point, where narrative sequencing, the articulation of masses, and chromatic contrasts combine to produce a dynamic and non-univocal perception. This interpretation leads to the identification of a specific conceptual outcome, defined as the “paradox of reduced scale.” The limited extent of the surface does not diminish the perceptual impact of the work; rather, it intensifies it, demonstrating how drawing can function as a fundamental critical device for the analysis and understanding of architectural space.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
