In recent years, because of the ban on antibiotics in Europe, there has been a notable rise in research regarding the impact of feed supplements on the health and well-being of farm animals intended for human consumption. Among these, Lycium barbarum (goji berries, GB) is rich in bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides, carotenoids and polyphenols, which have been associated with antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties. The aim of our work is the evaluation of the effects of dietary GB supplementation on metabolic parameters, intestinal morphology and inflammatory response in fattening rabbits. The study was approved by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, NAVPP, Albania (prot. 824/2021) and was funded by the PRIN 2022 (prot. 2022YK8EM9).
