Architecture has different components, some of them pertaining to technical and functional areas, others linked to matters of an expressive and communicative nature. The monument, for instance, is a space conceived in relation to the narrative dimension, and its function is explicated in its ability to tell stories, to keep memories alive. Often perceived as an object that is obsolete, it is interesting to examine its potential in the field of contemporary design, where the narrative aspects seem to be increasingly predominant with respect to the habitational and functional dimension of space. At this time in history, one that has witnessed a series of multiple collapses and various types of ruins, the idea of a before and an after has slowly taken root, a vision of the past and the memory of the future. It is interesting, within this context, to pause on the relationship between space and memory, between architecture and text, and the monument becomes significant as an expression of the various modalities by means of which memory has found an expression in the design of space.

Abstract
It is interesting, within this context, to pause on the relationship between space and memory, between architecture and text, and the monument becomes significant as an expression of the various modalities by means of which memory has found an expression in the design of space.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
