The political, tourist and industrial role of the enclave of Zadar between the two wars is at the centre of the analysis proposed in the report. In particular, the aim is to show how the city managed to exploit its geographical position and diffcult balance in the central Adriatic political chessboard by playing on several complex levels: both infrastructural and programmatic. The role of free port thus facilitates the spread of a food industry that had its roots as far back as the 19th century. Industrial constructions, urban design, and plans for residential and infrastructural aggregations close to the historic center respond to a forward-looking urban planning that allows a direct relationship of the city with the hinterland and the Adriatic Sea trade.

Abstract
The political, tourist and industrial role of the enclave of Zadar between the two wars is at the centre of the analysis proposed in the report. In particular, the aim is to show how the city managed to exploit its geographical position and diffcult balance in the central Adriatic political chessboard by playing on several complex levels: both infrastructural and programmatic. The role of free port thus facilitates the spread of a food industry that had its roots as far back as the 19th century. Industrial constructions, urban design, and plans for residential and infrastructural aggregations close to the historic center respond to a forward-looking urban planning that allows a direct relationship of the city with the hinterland and the Adriatic Sea trade.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
