After the approval of Law 180/1978, the rehabilitation of the former asylums in the Marche region was conceived disregarding the basic principles of preservation: alterations, renovations, overlapping building interventions disrespectful of the historical-artistic qualities of the building complexes, loss of original design details. The chosen destination is diversified and fragmented. Adaptation to the new functions was not preceded by a restoration project that would identify the quality of the original materials, in addition to the typological and spatial values.
