The complex that consists of the church of Santa Maria in Monterone and the adjoining convent of the Padri Missionari Redentoristi, located in the block on the corner between Via di Santa Maria di Monterone and Via dei Redentoristi in Rome's Sant'Eustachio district, stands on a rich area of Roman pre-existing structures in which the presence of several sites mentioned in the sources such as the Stagnum Agrippae and the temple of Bonus Eventus have been hypothesized. Although the origins and derivations of the Roman phase structures found in the foundations of the church have not yet been fully clarified, the analysis of direct and indirect sources attests the birth of the complex following the amalgamation of ancient pre-existences, with adaptations, partial demolitions and reconstructions, which took place over a very long period of time from the late Middle Ages to the 19th century. This study aims to outline the main acquisitions and new investigations that make it possible to define the articulated and complex construction phases of the buildings and of the site that have grown and have been transformed over the centuries.
