One of the most important contemporary art collections kept in Italy is undoubtedly Terrae motus, commissioned by Lucio Amelio following the Irpinia earthquake (1980) and donated with a testamentary bequest to the Royal Palace of Caserta. The choice of the Royal Palace constituted an innovative operation at the time, because the purely exhibition itinerary of the collection was replaced by a dialectic one between container and works on the theme of the seismic event, which the Palace lives and art represents.

Abstract
