Ruins of Mass Tourism in Italy. A Conceptual and functional reinterpretation of Tourist Architecture of the 1950s and 1980s in the Mid-Adriatic Landscape

In this paper the beachside architecture of the Mass Tourism will become a lens through which to critically interpret various aspects of an extremely recent past, whilst at the same time interpret and interact with the various dynamics of contemporary scenarios. The area of reference for the study is the coastal portion of the mid-Adriatic, within which various case studies are identified, which despite revealing aspects of a specifically local nature, at the same time are paradigmatic of similar conditions found in other geographical contexts. The objectives and the results of the paper proposal are: through an investigation method, a reconnaissance and a mapping of specifically identified mass tourism architectures is proposed. Prefiguring possible scenarios that may reconsider such realities from a perspective of interest and the potential to recycle these structures. The contribution is part of an international debate offered by the 14th conference do_co.mo.mo adaptive reuse, the modern movement towards the future, where tourism and modern leisurescapes sets out to establish new possibility of debate.

In questa ricerca l'architettura balneare del Turismo di massa è una lente attraverso la quale interpretare criticamente diversi aspetti di un passato estremamente recente, interagendo al contempo con le dinamiche degli scenari contemporanei. L'area di riferimento per lo studio è la porzione costiera del medio Adriatico, all'interno della quale si individuano diversi casi studio, che pur rivelando aspetti di carattere specificamente locale, sono al tempo stesso paradigmatici di condizioni simili riscontrate in altri contesti geografici. Gli obiettivi e i risultati della proposta di documento sono: - attraverso un metodo di indagine si propone una ricognizione e una mappatura delle architetture del turismo di massa specificamente individuate. -prefigurare possibili scenari che possano riconsiderare tali realtà da una prospettiva di interesse e potenzialità di riciclo. Il contributo si inserisce in un dibattito internazionale offerto dal 14 ° convegno do_co.mo.mo adaptive reuse-towards the modern movement, dove il turismo e i paesaggi moderni del tempo libero stabiliscono nuove possibilità di confronto.
