Moving from the recent constitutional amendment, the essay traces some of the fundamental issues concerning the juridical dimension of intergenerational solidarity. In particular, after having specified the relation between rights and duties, and the corresponding connection between solidarity and human dignity (both in its static and its dynamic meaning), the Author analyses the differences of intergenerational solidarity according to the different fields in which it is applied (environmental impact of human activities, economic assessments and bioethical issues), to finally face the most intricate knot: the one concerning the political and judicial representation of future interests.
