Starting from the historical-critical investigation of the medieval church of Santa Margherita di Ossi (province of Sassari) and its territorial context, the study intends to highlight the need and urgency to carry out anastylosis and reintegration on a church that is in a state of ruin and heavily damaged. This will allow the church to regain its third dimension and its importance as a focal point in the landscape of which it is part. From the point of view of history of architecture and construction techniques, the peculiar characteristics of this church make it an extremely important study focus. All that remains of the church today are the right half of the facade and some rows of the ashlars of the side walls of the nave and apse. If this deterioration is allowed to continue, this would represent both an inexorable loss for Sardinia’s historical-monumental heritage, as well for the historical-cultural and landscape-environmental context of Ossi. The restitution of half of the collapsed facade by anastylosis would be useful and essential for the preservation of both the original still-standing fragments and the collapsed walls and would also increase the value of the territory with all the ensuing repercussions from a cultural and economic-social point of view.
