As part of the architectural heritage, the towers have a particular spatial configuration, characterized by an ascending verticality with the prevalence of one dimension over the others. In addition, the towers have assumed several functions for society throughout history, including those of defense but also related to prestige or power, as well as a strong symbolic/religious value, especially in religious buildings or in the most significant ones. At present the structures of the towers are affected by accentuated phenomena of material and structural degradation and are close to the collapse condition. Through some examples, it is possible to illustrate a series of interventions, based on different project approaches. The projects are measured by the structural dimention, others seek a compatible use function, others deepen the relationship with the urban dimension or the wider landscape. Therefore, the different design strategies for the reuse of towers must be carefully evaluated, comparing them with the most up-to-date conservative theories.

Abstract
Therefore, the different design strategies for the reuse of towers must be carefully evaluated, comparing them with the most up-to-date conservative theories.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
