Spanish coastal towers in Sardinia. Typological and constructive characteristics The study aims at investigating the building site and the construction techniques of the coastal towers in Sardinia in the period between the XVI and the XIX centuries. We have tried to specify the technological and typological characteristics and specificities of Sardinian towers and, placing each of them in relation with the others, to identify the links and the affinities that characterize them, assimilate them and that allow us to hypothesize the origins and provenance of the workers who worked on them. Given the long period of time troughout which the Sardinian coastal towers were built and the variety of the architectural typologies identified, the presence of a plurality of building techniques characterizing both the original installations and the subsequent integrations, renovations and restorations can be detected. The study intends to highlight the construction characteristics of the coastal towers and to verify how the techniques employed by the workers of external origin have recorded influences and adaptations to the local tradition.

Lo studio si pone l’obiettivo di indagare il cantiere e le tecniche costruttive delle torri costiere in Sardegna nell’arco temporale compreso fra il XVI e il XIX secolo. Si è cercato di precisare i caratteri e le specificità tecnologiche e tipologiche delle torri sarde e, ponendo ognuna di esse in relazione con le altre, individuare i nessi e le affinità che le caratterizzano, le assimilano e che permettono di ipotizzare origini e provenienza delle maestranze che vi hanno operato. Dati il lungo arco temporale durante il quale le torri costiere sarde vennero realizzate e la varietà delle tipologie architettoniche individuate, si rileva la presenza di una pluralità di tecniche costruttive che caratterizzano tanto gli impianti originari, quanto le integrazioni successive, le ristrutturazioni e i restauri. Lo studio intende evidenziare le caratteristiche costruttive delle torri costiere e verificare come le tecniche impiegate dalle maestranze di origine esterna abbiano registrato influenze e adattamenti alla tradizione locale.
