The three years following the seismic series of 2016 could mark permanently the landscape of the Marche Region Apennines, to the point of compromising its survival. The damage resulting from a disaster is twofold: on the one hand, there is the physical destruction and loss of punctiform, linear or planar (historical-artistic, archaeological, environmental) assets that mark the landscape character of a place; on the other hand, there is the permanent withdrawal of the resident population from the destroyed areas. Considering that landscapes originate from the interaction between various components of nature and culture, whenever the presence and the place-modeling activities of man are lacking, the landscape disappears too. The response to disasters by the endogenous forces of a place, aimed at new territorial balances, more resilient and sustainable, is the high road to trigger long-lasting development paths that could counteract the depopulation in progress, fostering landscape identities and more-resilient communities.

Abstract
The response to disasters by the endogenous forces of a place, aimed at new territorial balances, more resilient and sustainable, is the high road to trigger long-lasting development paths that could counteract the depopulation in progress, fostering landscape identities and more-resilient communities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
