Its coherence and limits can be verified with reference to the constructional theme, particularly for domed bodies: the confrontation with structural reality undermines the reassuring perfection of the nature-mathematics-antique triangle, forcing architects and fabricators to profoundly change the meaning of those terms.

Natura, matematica e antico sono i vertici di un triangolo concettuale, tracciato in età umanistica, che nel Rinascimento maturo e nel Barocco verrà trasformato nei suoi significati. Se ne possono verificare la coerenza e limiti in riferimento al tema costruttivo, in particolare per gli organismi cupolati: il confronto con la realtà strutturale mette in crisi la rassicurante perfezione del triangolo natura- matematica-antico, costringendo architetti e fabbriceri a mutare profondamente l’accezione di quei termini.
