This paper describes the study made on steel structures within the research project RELUIS-RINTC (Assessing the (implicit) seismic risk of code-conforming structures in Italy) dealing with the evaluation of the implicit collapse risk of buildings designed strictly following the current edition of the Italian structural codes. The design of steel single-storey buildings located in three cities with increasing seismic hazard and considering two soil types (stiff and deformable) for each site is described. Afterwards, a geometric and material nonlinear model used for assessing the seismic behaviour through multi-record nonlinear incremental dynamic analysis is illustrated and a selection of results commented.
