In this contribution the relationship between technological change, employment and economic growth is analysed in the case of Italy at an industry level, in a dynamic perspective (i.e. taking into account the 1975-1993 period). The process of structural change underlying this relationship are examined through an industry level analysis able to highlight the main industry-specific regularities in the technological patterns, market structures, production specialization, organizational models and competitive factors. The employment impact of innovation is empirically explored taking into account the very different nature of innovation across industires.
