Into a globalization city, the urban public space tends to reduce or to deprive itself of meaning. According to Z. Bauman the atrophy of the public space would be to re-conduct towards the phenomenon of the “individualization”, as principal social manifestation of the “fluid modernity” which has lost the common sense of “doing city”. It takes origin the idea of a public space intended like personal appropriation of the territory, transforming the continuous empty space of the widespread city in a space for individual activities. On the contrary, the public space becomes space of a collective representation when there is a civil society able of formulating a plan of territory and a plan of landscape less and less dependent on prevalent economical and functional implications, and more and more inspired with “symbolic relations”, “identity images” and “intangible dynamics” which emerge by empties and which are the expression of a system of relations and reference lines towards a new planning of the territory.
