An integrated geomorphologic-economic approach for valuing direct damage in agricultural areas caused by erosion processes in Mediterranean environment (Italy)

Land degradation due to erosion processes represents at a global scale a serious threat to socio-economic development especially in rural areas where the main economic resources are frequently directly tied to the exploitation of the agricultural and pastoral resources. To contribute to a more precise frame on socio-economic implications of erosion processes a recently tested methodological approach aimed to the assessment of direct economic damage caused by landslides was further developed and applied within several sample areas
