The analysis of externally prestressed composite beams involves some difficulties related to the coupling arising between the local strain of the cable and the global deformation of the structure. The collapse modalities are ruled both by the non-linear behaviour of materials and by the second order effects. The authors present a model that accounts for geometrical and mechanical non-linearities, by deducing a kinematics within the theory of small strains and moderate rotations from the exact nonlinear theory. Some aspects of interest are illustrated by means of numerical applications.

Abstract
The analysis of externally prestressed composite beams involves some difficulties related to the coupling arising between the local strain of the cable and the global deformation of the structure. The collapse modalities are ruled both by the non-linear behaviour of materials and by the second order effects. The authors present a model that accounts for geometrical and mechanical non-linearities, by deducing a kinematics within the theory of small strains and moderate rotations from the exact nonlinear theory. Some aspects of interest are illustrated by means of numerical applications.File in questo prodotto:
