We discuss two mathematical problems arising in classical and quantum dynamics: the existence of weak * limit of sequence of point measures supported on classical periodic orbits on one side, and those arising from quantum averages of pseudo-differential operators on the other side. We show their intimate connection using the example of the hyperbolic linear automorphism of the torus.
