The present work examines the case of Montegiorgio (Marches Region, Central Italy), representative of the main landslide of the area, for which numerous data have been acquired through detailed geological and geomorphologic analyses and in-depth hydrogeological, geotechnical and geophysical studies. A 3D physical model has been reconstructed to use it for a numerical analysis based on a finite differences method. The modelling carried out must be understood as a simplified attempt to understand a very complex phenomenon produced in a very long time-span. What is tested is if the perturbing causes of the model, acting together or separately, are able to activate such a grandiose phenomenon of collapse, and to understand the effects induced by perturbing cause and by variations of these. Furthermore we want to analyse the evolution, at present time, of the landslide to optimize the risk assessment of the area.
