In the present paper the wall thickness, measured with ultrasound, of seven dogs affected by IBD is retrospectively evaluated. The data obtained have been successively compared to those present in literature and considered physiologic. Our results report that ultrasound pointed out an increased intestinal wall only in two of the seven dogs, showing that, in our study, this exam hasn’t been discriminating for the diagnosis of IBD. Ultrasound is very useful for the diagnosis of many gastrointestinal diseases and it’s used even in Human Medicine in the management of the patient with IBD, but its right role in such diagnosis has probably to be exactly determined.
